Tour de France

Saw the Tour de France! My host Mum's brother in law offered to take me to see it, so at 5:30am off we went! We got a good spot and guarded it the whole day, spent the time wandering around watching everything that was going on. They had a huge screen there so you could follow it before it arrived (we were waiting at the finish). The organisation for this event is huge, and it happens every singe day for 3 weeks! There are 5000 tour officials/cyclist team members/media! The advertising, publicity, giveaways, sponsorship etc is incredible! Had a good look around for European Correspondant from One News, was keen to get on an interview with my NZ flag. But I don't think TVNZ made an appearance at the Tour. So at around 5pm the bikes finally arrived! Then we spent 2 hours to travel 18km down the mountain, traffic was hell! Oh yeah, I saw Lance Armstrong there with his Discovery Channel Team! Thats him there in the smaller photo. Had a great day in the sunshine up in the mountains, it was a great experience to see the Tour de France
