Stopped at this nice as lake for lunch between Venice and Genova. Had a few hours free time before getting back on the bus. The 6 of us guys went and bought a beer from the supermarket and pulled out sandwiches from our bags! We would always try to make the most of the free breakfast and walk out with something for lunch too! Very economical... Everyday at a restaurant would have been nice but expensive. And anyway hanging out like this was a lot of fun. The pattern for most days went as follows: Wake up early in the hotel (usually after about 3/4 hours sleep!), have the hotel's breakfast then onto the bus. Bus time averaged about 6 hours per day, as you can imagine we got quite sick of it! But it was always fun hanging out with the others. And catch up on sleep. So we would usually have lunch in a cafeteria wherever we stopped on the motorway, some days (like this one on the lake) we would stop for a few hours at a town. So then we arrived at the next place mid afternoon, do a guided tour of the place, have a bit of free time, then to the new hotel, dinner all together and then usually allowed out (never very late!) after dinner. And then fun times all together in the rooms till early hours, wake up and REPEAT! The one place that bucked the trend was Venice, where we had 2 nights. So yes, the trip was very tiring! But we made sure we made the most of visiting these amazing places.
